I've checked if it is possible to leave anonymous comments, as well as those with major public ID, on the blog posts in my Squirrel blog, but I couldn't find any problem with leaving comments in either case. I have re-saved my setting for comments, and I am hoping it will mend the problem you encountered. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
By the way, the Giveaway post has been closed since Feb. 17th because often there are people who try to join giveaways after closing dates. I always feel sorry for telling them it is too late.
